Pentax GT-4B s#312311 Engineers Transit(Glass Circle and Verniers) Horizontal- 20º Vertical- 1 Min. Comes with carrying case pictured(no accessories) Cleaned Tightened and Adjusted about 5 years ago. Since then. Its been sitting in the closet. Instrument is clean as you may see from the pictures, though it does have some abrasion marks on it from the carrying case. Movements are like new. The instrument will be shipped UPS(to the 48 contiguous states) in box pictured. The box was reenforced at bottom with wood strips and then packed tightly with empty. Tightly capped water bottles arranged on bottom and sides so there will be no slippage. It is packed well.

This is all in very nice condition with very clear optics. The(3 piece builders rod attaches with brass connections. The tripod is lightweight aluminum, and the transit is a Berger. The only numbers I find on the transit are 3H11059 and a warranty number on the bottom. This weighs 18 pounds packed in a large box. I guess it's time to retire. Didn't think it was. I've been doing thins since 1965 and registered in 8 states since the mid 70's. I bought the 310 new and the 420 has been a back up. Seems like the 310 has a problem of going off and on. I have always treated my equipment with kid gloves.never dropped.never in direct sunlight.always sat on cushion while driving. The cases are in excellent condition as are the chargers. The batteries are new in each instrument. I would not sell either if I wasn't leaving the business. For a quick sale.I'm starting the bidding at $1500 for both. Like I said.the batteries are new. If the 310 worked like it should I would ask $2000 for it and the 420 about the same. I picked this up at a house sale because it looked interesting. I know absolutely nothing about surveying instruments so if I make an error or fail to describe or mention something please email and I'll do my best correct it. This is a 19th century theodolite in as found condition. I believe the name on the dial is F. Eckel New York. There are two broken pieces of glass. One covers a scale and the other is the leveling bubble. Check out the photos to see. The compass dial measures 4 3/4 inches and has scratches in the center of the glass. The tube length is 10 1/2 inches. The brass dial is 4 1/2 inches. The height is about 15 1/2 inches. It weighs in at 20 pounds. I don't know if there any missing parts. Email for additional photos. The instruction manual is included as well as some tools and items in the pictures(except the tripod which is discussed above) I have little to no knowledge about this type of equipment.
