The total length is 46 inches. The hook has been repaired with heavy wire as seen in one picture. Also the large round chain link has a newer connecting link.

This is an old device for tagging a bull. The ring is hinged and has a set screw to hold it closed. The ring was forced thru the web in the bulls nose and then secured.
