This is considered the book that all other gasoline engine books are gauged by. It is commonly called the BYB an is"American Gasoline Engines Since 1872" by Charles Wendel. It was published in 1983 and this is a first printing. It is probably the most complete and comprehensive book of manufacturers of engines. It is very detailed and has information about hundreds of companies that built engines. It is heavily illustrated and is definitely a must have for any early engine collector or enthusiast! It measures about 9 x 11 1/4 and has 586 pages. It is in good used condition with minor soiling and some slight damage to the bottom of the spine. Here we have a nice original advertising paper from S.B. Church of Seymour Conn. and Boston. Mass. It advertises the Church engine which is a Hamilton sideshaft, feed and ensilage cutters, silos, `76 plows, wood saws, grinding mills, pumps, tanks, and hay tools. It measures 13" X 10 1/4" when unfolded, and is a great little piece of advertising. Use the photos to judge the condition, it does have a small hole where the corner is when it`s folded up.

Joining his brother John in the operation of a foundry in La Porte, Indiana. Interior of the gauge is clean and functional as shown in the photos. The case shows light surface rust. The face is in good + condition. Overall very nice and would benefit from a good cleaning. The gauge works, and seems to respond accurately but due to the old, rusted union at the bottom of the syphon I am not able to get a clean connection and cannot verify the accuracy. but I suspect it is just fine.
