During the late 50's to early 60's. These must have been issued to schools across the country by the thousands. As the Cold War wound down, CD supplies went to the dump or simply lanquished in storage somewhere. This unit has one aural and two visual indicators: A built in speaker that gives clicks when a count is made. A neon light that flashes, and a meter movement that shows approximate counts per minute. The unit works. And has been repaired by me: When I got it, the original fragile thin glass Geiger-Mueller was broken, rendering the unit inoperative. I replaced this with a 6993 tube from a CVD-700 Radiation Survey Meter. And potted it into the original GM tube socket. The 6993. ... moreAs with the original tube, is capable of measuring Gamma rays and strong Beta radiation. To measure Beta, you loosen the two front panel bakelite nuts and remove the aluminum shield over the G-M tube. One other note is that the high voltage is adjustable. And(CAUTION! the G-M tube is elevated above ground potential(so don't touch the GM tube with the unit running! You need to crank the B+ to about 1,350 volts to make the unit work. With a measured 440 volts on the shell of the G-M tube, that translates to about 910 real volts which is about right to make it work. I replaced several paper foil caps back in 2001. With the exception of the 0B2. All of the tubes were tested for performance and shorts on my TV-7 military transconductance type tube tester, and the results are as follows: 1X2: 74/40 minimum. 117L7: 83/50 min. 62/40 min. 2 section tube. 12AU7: 92/56 min. 89/56 min. 2 section tube. 12AW6: 36/20 min. 0B2: 108.8 volts measured in circuit. I tested the unit for function with a half pound block of Pitchblende(sorry. Not included, NFS! As you can see, I had no problem pinning the meter or making the neon light glow! Hi. The items you are viewing are 2 very nice radiation survey meters in a radiation monitoring kit. The kit contains earphone, dosimeters and chargers and an excellent CDV700 and a CDV 715. There have been recent articles claiming radiation from Japan may be on its way to the US. There is also concern that a terrorist may set off a dirty bomb. So there may be some use for radiation survey meters. The 2 in the picture are older but have been kept very well. I have tested them and they work very well. The CDV 700 is a low range survey meter which may not respond to an intense high radiation field greater than 50 mr/hr. The CDV 715 is a higher range and can provide dose rate to 500 mr/hr. Radiation Geiger Counter Model No 1A(rare! was tested and functional when purchased. It has been stored in a temperature controlled electronic safe since purchase. I have not tested it since but I believe it to be fully functional and in great shape. Do not confuse this model with non-tested versions. This Scintillator is in the original box with leather case. Sample canister. Instructions, calibration disk and is completely working. This is many times more sensitive than a Geiger counter but only detects gamma rays. A new NaI crystal was added several years ago since the original turned yellow. My father bought this many years ago. I have also modified the battery box so it uses common batteries. I have loaded fresh batteries in it now. It uses 12 9V batteries one D cell and 1 C cell. These batteries will last a lot longer than the original ones since they are alkaline. One photo shows the result of calibration of the 0.8 mR/h disk on the 2.5 mR/h scale. Hi. The items you are viewing are 3 nice radiation survey meters. The CDV 700 also has ear phones. There have been recent articles claiming radiation from Japan may be on its way to the US. There is also concern that a terrorist may set off a dirty bomb. So there may be some use for radiation survey meters. The 3 in the picture are older but have been kept very well. I have tested them and they work very well. The CDV 700 is a low range survey meter which may not respond to an intense high radiation field greater than 50 mr/hr. This CDV 700 has a broken battery clip, but works well with a piece of tin foil to complete the circuit on the negative pole of the battery. It works great. I have also included a complete battery holder if you want to replace the broken clip, even though the meter ... moreworks great! This is a neutron detector assembly removed from a portable neutron and gamma detector used by Nuclear Emergency Search Teams. It is extremely sensitive all solid state detector that uses a Lithium Iodide Scintillation Crystal bonded to a large area PIN photodiode detector with a FET based amplifier. It has been tested with a neutron source and does respond far better than BF3 geiger tubes. It should be used with a discriminator pulse height analyzer since the crystal detector will also pick up gamma rays too. Though simple lead foil will help lower the noise floor. Hook up info will be supplied, runs on 3.3-5V. a 3.7V lithium ion battery will power it nicely. Hi Folks! I’m working my way through my parts stash and am happy to report that I’ve found two more CDV-700 radiation survey meter(Geiger counter) 0-50 uA meter movements. Now you can replace your dead meter and have a spare as well! They were removed from working Lionel CDV-700 6B’s that were being upgraded. They are the exact replacements for the Lionel 6B. ENI, and Victoreen 6, 6A, 6B. The meter movements work. And have been checked by two separate processes to make sure they don’t stick. One reads about 49 uA full scale, the other about 50 uA. Spec is 50 uA +/5 uA, so they are both well within specs. In fact, they are almost dead nuts on! The Simpson 260 is not part of the auction. It is used to show the current draw of the meters. These movements are in reasonably good shape: One has ... moreminor scuff marks on the front. The other has some deeper scratches. Both meters have minor stress fractures around the mounting holes on the front of the meters. The plastic is clear and not darkened. Check out the pictures! With the installation of 4 d cell batteries and the unit turned on I get a very slight hum from inside the box and apparently that is where the problem lies. I hear that the"Check Source" on the side of the box should work to test the wand. But I could not get any response, except the humming inside the box. I don't know a thing about this kind of instrument. But it's from Dad's old collection and I think he used it in the late 1960's. The serial No. is 31306 and it must be from Vermont and the last date stamped on it. May be the last time it worked, April 1969. Hope you can use it. Up for sale is a custom made BETA-GAMMA-X-RAY scintillation probe. This is a great probe for Uranium prospecting due to its high sensitivity. This scintillation probe is a super probe and works with the popular Ludlum 3 survey meter. Or any instrument with an adjustable high voltage supply and a threshold of 30 millivolts or less input sensitivity. The unit works best at 800 to 900 volts depending on the instruments threshold. Okay what is it? I bought an entire room of an estate auction and these were in a box in the room. They appear to be some sort of measuring device as when you look through it has a bar graph number 0-5 and says roentgens? Honestly if you're viewing this you know way more about it than I do. The only other thing I can really tell you about it is it does appear to have some wear on it but seem structurally sound. May need a detailed cleaning. Questions are welcome. P. S. I literally have hundreds of these and various parts. Lenses, accessories etc. that all appear to go together. Bidding on two(2) meters.CDV-700 and CDV-717. These are late 1950's or 1960's vintage. Cold War era Civil Defense meters. There are some minor scratches as seen in photos but over all both meters have a nice appearance. I tried batteries in both meters and I could NOT get them to power on. The battery compartments, circuit boards etc appear to be in very good shape. I'm not electrically inclined so I do not know if they can be made to work or if they are just two Cold War era conversation pieces. Both meters are sold'as is'

This is a Gamma Ray detector assembly removed from a portable neutron and gamma detector used by Nuclear Emergency Search Teams. It is extremely sensitive all solid state detector that uses a Cesium Iodide Scintillation Crystal bonded to a large area PIN photodiode detector with a CMOS based pre-amplifier. It has been tested with a gamma source and does respond far better than any Geiger tube to gamma rays. It could be used with a discriminator pulse height analyzer to detect and identify isotopes. And the tiny electrical draw would make it nice for a USB MCA detector build. Hook up info will be supplied, runs on 3.3-5V, a 3.7V lithium ion battery will power it nicely. Fantastic old home detection kit.Shelter radiation kit Jordan electronics. Includes radiological dosimeter charger(750-5) Radiological Survey meter(CDV-700 model 5) Radiological survey meter(CD V-715 model no1 A) headphone, 2 dosimeters(V-742) 2 straps, 4 booklets, plus other paperwork in the original manilla envelope. inside one of the meters I even found the original Protek-sorb packet! This set is VERY nice. very slight dings, the original shipping box is present, battery compartements are super clean, was never stored with batteries in it. Box is about 13 3/4" by 10" and about 7" tall. A wonderful example of the"bomb shelter" equipment from the 70's. You wont find a nicer one. I dont know how to test it, so it is being sold AS-IS. This listing is for a Victoreen Model 90-S09 Geiger counter with a Victoreen Model 491-30 probe for Beta and Gamma radiation. This model has a scale of 0- 100 microSieverts per hour with 4 decade ranges x100. X10, x1, and x0.1. There is a calibration adjustment for each of these ranges and the high voltage supply so you can use this with other probes. This also has a built in speaker with a switch to turn it on and off. Also has a response selector slow, medium and fast. I have tested this with a Co60 source it does WORK! The check source is not included. I do not know if it is calibrated. It takes two D batteries which will not be included. This unit is as is with no warranty and no returns. Victoreen Model 190 Survey Meter Radiation Detection Instrument This survey instrument is being sold as is. I had this listed as not working and for parts only. We put in new batteries(it takes four 9-volts) and it powered up and seemed to go through its checks and start up just fine. I am not familiar with this instrument at all and can't vouch for its accuracy. It has not been calibrated. Please email me with questions.
