Up for auction is this very nice COMPLETELY REFURBISHED Precision Radiation Instruments Special Scintillator. Model 117. This is a 1950's vintage radiation detector. This works by the use of a Sodium Iodide Crystal and photo-detector tube. This unit was completely refurbished by a vendor who used to advertise on ebay about 8-10 years ago. When it was refurbished, they converted it to use 3-D" and 4-C" batteries. It originally used 2-45 volt and 1-22 1/2 volt batteries, along with the"D" batteries. If you look on the back of the case, you will see an original PRI radioactive check disc(these usually tend to get lost over time) This unit powers up, zeros, adjusts and measures radiation correctly. For condition, inside and out, please look at the pictures, they speak for ... morethemselves. This is a very nice, completely functional, vintage radiation detection scintillator. Also included is a selection of vintage literature to go with it. There is an original owner's manual. It is dusty and does have some surface rust. But no pitting. Inside battery case is in mint condition. No corrosion. Cord does have some rips and tears to outer rubber coating. In 1962. The 710 was superseded by the model 715 and the existing stocks were excessed, often with the Civil Defense logo removed or defaced. The problem with the CD V-710 was its relatively low range: it didn't extend beyond 50R/hr. When the 710 was first produced, its range seemed perfectly adequate- it had been developed for atomic warfare that involved the use of"conventional" fission weapons. By the early 1960s however, it was realized that the exposure rates resulting from the use of the newer thermonuclear weapons(fission-fusion devices) would be much higher. In September 1985. FEMA sent a notification to the maintenance and calibration facilities indicating that all models of the CD V-710 were obsolete. This Geiger Counter cosmetically looks to be in good shape. There ... moreis some paint on the counter. I don't know if it works so it is being sold as is. Comes with the original strap and instruction manual. This auction is for a used EBERLINE MODEL E-400 Geiger Counter. We're not familiar with these instruments. And its functional condition is unknown, so the item is being sold for parts or restoration. It operates on five Size D batteries. This testing was done: A set of alkaline cells was installed and it was noted that. When the control switch is placed in the"BATT" position, the black meter needle moves into the middle of the green battery check scale, as shown in picture#4. With the switch set at"ON, and the slide switch on the side-mounted speaker unit also turned on) clicking sounds can be heard, and the black meter pointer moves upscale- the more clicks, the more the needle appears to deflect to the right. This can be seen in photo#5. There's no movement from the ... morered pointer at the botttom of the meter. The case has a number of scratches and the unit has apparently been well used, but the internal parts look to be in very good condition. We have no equipment or material to allow further testing, so you're bidding on a box that clicks and has an active meter. It obviously needs some work, since it responds even without being exposed to a radioactive test source. There's a handle thingie that conntects to the Geiger Counter unit with a white cable. It was disassembled by unscrewing the front section. And it was found that there's some kind of stainless steel"tube" with four prongs on one end inside. This plugs into a mating socket in the handle, which seems to be keyed so that the tube can be inserted only one way. There's what looks to be a clear film"window" for want of a better term) on the end opposite the prongs. It has a dark coating with two tiny areas that appear to have possibly flaked off; however, the window looks to be completely intact and undamaged. This component can be seen in picture#11. This was the detector for an X-ray imager unit. It measured the power of the x-ray beam to calibrate the exposure of storage phosphor radiographic plates. The photo diode itself is 5mm square and is mounted on a board with an operational amplifier. The photodiode is sensitive to light as well so you could use it as a highly sensitive light detector for pulsed power measurement and detection. Definitely not something you can get at Radio Shack! This item is pretty hard to find I have lots of laser and other unique stuff for sale this week.

This is a radiation detector meter from the early 1960's that was manufactured by the Victoreen company in Ohio. Overall it is in good condition; the only defects I see are scratches to the paint and there is some masking tape residue on the bottom case. The meter face is perfect. With no scratches or any other defects. It's a rugged unit, with the upper case halve made out of cast aluminum and the bottom case halve made out of steel. The meter comes with a fresh'D' size battery. The zero control functions properly and the circuit check feature also works properly. I am auctioning a complete CD V-777-3 RADIATION DETECTOR SET. While this set is used. The radiation detectors are in like new condition, free of any corrosion. The detectors also include a Cable Assembly for remote operation and batteries. While these units were calibrated in 1991. 1992; they can be zeroed and circuit checked. They were tested. One that combined HV and signal, I don't if the included pictured bias network will give the same results. This probe was acquired as surplus from a local college. I do not know its working condition. It has a few small dings on the body and one of the pins is ever so slightly out of alignment. I know the serial number on the box is hard to read but it matches the serial number of the unit(a little imagination might be required) Everything you see in the pictures. Early years instruments with serial below# 46567 this is a 50 U.A. full scale meter later instruments require 1 M.A. meters. If you have an earlier instrument that requires a 50 U.A. meter it can be upgraded by changing the value of 2 resistors on the main board to then use a 1 M.A. meter. I do have instructions provided by Ludlum to make the changes in PDF format. The dial can be changed by removing all 10 small flat head screws and removing the bezel than 2 small screws that hold the dial in place than reverse to reassemble. Salvaged and restored bezel from a model 2 but can be used with others using a 50 U.A. movement. Dial 202-041 older style scale to keep as original but can be changed to match. If you have a later version instrument that needs a 1 MA meter you could reverse the upgrade ... moreoption by replacing 2 resistors on the main board or shunt this 50 UA. Meter with an approximate 95- 100 ohm resistor.

Up for your consideration is this lot of 25 vintage pocket dosimeters. I am not the original owner and really know next to nothing at all about these but I will attempt to describe them as best as I can. Honestly. If you're viewing this you probably know more about these than I do. Okay here goes. They appear to be some sort of measuring device for x-ray and gamma radiation. When you view through them they all have a measuring bar graph measuring different sizes of roentgens. Variety of different sizes for example Milliroentgens ect. Most are different models of Keleket Instrument Division but I did see a Bendix model. As far as condition they do appear to have been used rather heavily. Most of them have a sticker around them with some sort of notation from the original owner that I have ... moreno idea what it means. When you view through them most of the them are very readable as it pertains to the measuring graph and writing on the inside but have a few little specs here and there which leads me to believe they would need a detailed cleaning? At 7373' above MSL the window of the tube bulges out being that much closer to something that can pop it. Like a piece of wire. Which did. The squeeker. This OCD CDV-700 survey meter is being sold for parts only. There is significant rust on the battery compartment and the circuit board is loose. The circuit board attaches directly to the anode and cathode of the scaler as opposed to being attached by wires as in later models of this radiological survey meter. I do not know if this meter would detect radiation or not if the circuit board were to be fastened back and batteries put into the meter. Before Whites was the premier metal detector manufacturer. they were an innovative maker of Geiger counter. Worried that uranium prospectors would be wondering around the desert with headphones blocking their ability to hear the warnings of rattlesnakes, Mr. White designed his counters with an integral speaker. He was one of the first. This model is one of the later ones. From 1957. Whites started making Geiger counters in 1954-55. During the time they were in the Geiger counter business it seems that no two were the same. Different colors, different meters, different features. It was if there was no standard but that makes collecting very much fun. During the last fifteen years I have owned more than 20 of these and no two were exactly the same! A Baby Ben Westclox alarm clock. Broken and missing a few screws(who isn't, right? I am selling it as a Geiger counter test source. This item has radium on the dials. While the count rate is about 10,500 counts per minute, that's mostly gamma. I used this thing for years as a check source for a gamma scintillation probe. It's pretty safe to keep around. Radiation is undetectable from two feet away. The presence of gamma radiation at a known energy level is really beneficial if you're in need of a safe, mild test source for scintillators. When cranking up the photomultiplier voltage, it is critical to have a source that is juuuuust strong enough to get through your light shielding. I have not removed the glass to get a full spectrum reading, due to risk of breakage. It is the ... moresafety factor that inspired me to keep it around for so many years. Exempt quantities. Victoreen Geiger Counter CD-V 700 Model No.6A Victoreen WORKS Uses 4 batteries. Clean, no corrosion. I installed 4 batteries(not included) and held the open probe next to the"operational check source" on the side. The needle moved. Also, tried it using a small piece of Fiesta Ware and it also moved the needle. On the side(see photos) is a card that says. calibration date Dec 91" along with a graph. Wow what a find. Tons and tons of pocket dosimeters. Lenses, slides, hermetically sealed terminals and many many various parts and extras. I am not the original owner of these but I will attempt to tell you all I can about them however. Admittedly I know very very little of what these are. That said if you are considering a bid and have any questions at all please ask as I am app to overlook something I'm sure. Let me start with overall condition. All of this stuff has been used and shows wear. Most of the lenses appear to be in real good condition some are unused I'm sure by the way they were packed. The Dosimeters show some heavy wear on the outside but I randomly viewed through about 10 of them and they appear to be fine. May need a cleaning I don't know. I can't date this ... morestuff but I can tell you there was one box with the hermetically sealed terminals that is dated Dec. 1956. The rest of the stuff I really don't know about. While I'm sure you'll find a few broken pieces or items that are unuseful my best guess is that the biggest part of it will be very useful to the right person. I can tell you that there are about 100 pocket dosimeters.
