Very nice E120. This model is smaller and lighter than most of the devices in it's class. It has more features than the CDV700s and rivals the Ludlums and Bicrons in quality. It has 3 ranges. X10, x1 and x.1 and also a knob for adjusting response time. These units were made with no audio but had the option of an external amp/speaker to provide sound. This sale includes a matching SK1 amp/speaker. The included probe is a heavy duty vintage Eberline model with a newer thin wall GM tube. This probe is sensitive to beta and gamma/X-ray radiation and has a very effective rotatable beta shield for limiting measurement to gamma only. Nice 1x1" plastic scintillation crystal pulled from a working Bicron MicroRem scintillator. I repurposed the PMT and housing and don't need it for any of my other projects. Scintillates Gamma X-ray down to 17 KEV with a thin window and 40 KEV with the standard window aluminum about the thickness of a soda can. I believe the scintillator may be one of the few that can be tissue equivalent calibrated due to the scintillator crystal that was used in it. It has the white highly reflective paint coating and soft foam pads to keep it centered on the 1" photomultiplier tube face it was optical silicone grease coupled. Weight including foam pads is 14 Grams.

I got this at an estate sale from a gentleman who had used it for many years as he worked around the Hanford nuclear facility in Washington state. It is a beta gamma detector[ Geiger counter] in working order. I tried to find some radiation around my house but to no avail. The batteries are in good shape and register on the meter[ pic 5] and all the sensitivity settings react when changing the settings. The only issue is to the metal box as one of the clasps needs to be straightened out. It does have a carrying handle on the top of the metal container. Here is a fine example of a radioactive household item that pretty much anybody with a Geiger counter should treat themselves to. A real. Whole, Fiesta plate that hasn't been victim to silly gimmicks, like(ahem) being smashed to pieces and sold for ridiculously high profits; or put in a little plastic container with a trefoil sticker on top and being called a check source. I hear plates scream, so it's particularly painful for me. Forgive the odd sense of humor and remember the awesome product, please. That's how I got started as a collector; needing a consistent quick check source for my counter. after venturing in to the world of Health Physics, I still have these in my lab, use them in the classroom, scare dinner guests, and freak my neighbors out, because they have come to ... morerecognize the howl of a geiger counter next to a source putting out that much radiation. There's only one way to find'em. Thrift stores, antique stores, and grandmas cabinets. With a Geiger counter in hand. There are knock offs, counterfeits(seriously, it's bizarre) and about five other colors that look kind of like it, but only one radioactive red. Fiesta, manufactured by the Homer Laughlin company, is the most widely known of the several radioactive plate brands. This one is an original run(1938-ish) pre-war plate with natural Uranium in the beautiful glaze. It is a deep orange/red glaze with a few spots that are clearly yellow(look on the ridge lines) This lovely spectrum of colors are created by the slight difference in glaze thickness, which gives it such a display-worthy depth. Your readings will differ from mine, unless you happen to have the exact same probe and a calibrated counter without fancy circuitry(sorry, I have this thing for led Eberlines lately. This is a geiger counter radiation detector from the late 50's. Early 60's. This is used and showswear as you can see in the pictures, the original paint is worn, there are BB gun holes in one side but I don't believe that should affect the operation of it. It obviously needs to be calibrated butother than that I don't know anything about how it works. I think it requires some sort of ear piece and batteries. This is a really cool piece from the cold war and the government used these in training. This should be able to detect short-range radiation including radiation in food and water. It is in its original 8 3/4 x 7 1/4 x 3 inch box and comes with an instruction/maintenance manual, original packing ticket and even the original battery, which should probably be thrown away since it has a lot of corrosion on it. This is a Civil Defense V-777 Radiation detection kit which has been in government possession and storage for its entire life(until now) This set was decommissioned from the Arizona Division of Emergency Service. During the Cold war Arizona was a prime target for nuclear attack for several reasons; Military installations such as air force bases, Titan Missile launch complexes dotting the landscape around Tucson, not to mention thousands of aircraft that were stored for long and short term periods in the desert all made easy targets around the Tucson and southern Arizona area. This set belonged to a fire station in Phoenix. Who in the event of all out nuclear war would have had to deal with direct hits ... moreas well as fallout coming from the pounding that southern Arizona would be sure to receive. This is literally one of the coolest pieces of history I have ever owned. This set comes from an interesting place and an interesting time, Please read the full description and see the pictures as they are of the actual item(s) you will receive First things first. These were VERY recently switched over to private hands from a local government entity, This set belonged to the Arizona Division of Emergency Service. the calibration stickers(I assume that's what they are) are from late 1991 the manuals seem to indicate that the counters were manufactured in the 1960s? in any case there is a lot of documentation that comes with the kit including the UNIQUE deployment paperwork for the location this set was deployed Coming from Arizona means two things. First is that you can rest assured that ... morethese have been stored in relatively ideal conditions, there would have been moisture from swamp cooling but background moisture would generally be low all year round. I don't know exactly how they were stored since being taken out of active service but it appears that they were well housed, the box is in Very good shape, and is actually like a medium density fiberboard, there is some moisture warp, but this is really heavy cardboard for the box. This actual set was stored at and deployed at the Maricopa County Sheriff's department you can tell this by the unique deployment paperwork that comes with the dit. There is a typewritten pack of information that is specific to where it was deployed and how it was to be used in the event of a radiological incident including whom to report readings to and how/when to take readings. The thing that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up is just the thought of the scenario that this set would have been used in had it ever been used First is that had the cold war gotten hot. Nice working tested Thorn EMI 9524B photomultiplier tube and matching wired ready to use socket from a repurposed Eberline scintillator probe. The PMT is an 11 stage 1 1/8" tube with a 1" head on window 300-650nm wave length as used in many Eberline and Bicron scintillator probes. The matching wired ready to use base socket has some refinements such as the last three dynodes before the anode are buffered with.01uF caps and the last resistor on the cathode end from the first dynode to cathode is doubled in value over all the other resisters as recommended by Hamatsu and has the normal overall buffer cap. From anode to ground. Dynode string resisters between dynodes is 10 meg ohms per dynode with the cathode to dynode 1 resister of 22 meg ohms.

This scaler and alpha counter are in very good condition. Without fully setting the instrument up for use. I set a nominal HV and tested for background(1 cpm) and tested with Th-230 source. Shows and efficiency of about 15% I'm sure it could be better properly setup. Scaler was put on pulser and did fine. Can also be used with other probes you want with proper adjustments. This E600 is in great shape. Comes with a smart pac that has the CP1 fitting. Also 2 cables. One normal 3 foot(about) and a 25 foot. It does power up, no red death screen. Shows the expected out of cal message. It also has the tags on it from having been at Ludlum for it's last calibration. I have absolutely no reason to believe this meter will not calibrate.
