Working functional Electro Neutronics ENI 700 6B. I purchased a few with no tubes and badly stuck meters which were not repairable. I added one of my spare Geiger tubes and a spare refurbished meter ie I had an older ENI type meter sticking and I opened back and cleaned it up. It moves slow but works. I sealed the back with small amount of epoxy at 12.3 and 9 o'clock plus hot glue all the way around. See the photos. Light scratches on front of meter but no problem reading scale. see photos. This auction is for a vintage Homer Laughlin Company(HLC) 6 inch Saucer in the Orange color. Commonly known as"Radioactive Red" The bowls and dishes get their unique color by using naturally occurring Uranium compounds in the glaze.the result is a bright orange color as well as some residual radio-activity. This saucer can be used as a geiger check source to allow safe checking and operations of a Geiger counter or Scintillator system. Measuring the activity on a calibrated CDV-700 Geiger Counter using a pancake style probe, the total activity was roughly 29-30 KCPM, combined alpha/beta/gamma. The majority of activity is in the form of Beta with a small Alpha component and a very small gamma count. This particular saucer is slightly above average in activity for similar HLC dishes ... moreand saucers. Pancake probes are more sensitive than a standard"Pickle" or"Hot Dog" style of probe, so your readings could be more or less than the readings I found, depending on the sensitivity of your probe. Pickle probes typically are about half as sensitive as a pancake probe and won't detect Alpha. The dish itself is in average condition with an average amount of wear, mostly around the center well where a coffee cup would sit. The pictures are from the actual item being auctioned. This is an alarming Ratemeter with an incredible range. The digital display reads in kilo counts per minute and the range setting goes from X 10 to X99. Each count is registered with a flash of the'count' LED until the readout reaches the setting at which time the alarm sounds. In the photo the alarm is set at 10 X 1 kilo count per minute or 10.000 cpm. Due to the versatility and great range, a large variety of detectors can be used. This is a neat and extremely small cold cathode X-ray emitting tube. It is only 2 inches long and about 3/8 inch diameter. It has a lead shield that covers about half the tube and a window that is just under 1/4 inch. I powered up the tube with about 25KV and it makes my neutron RAE tester go crazy. Up for auction is a(sort of disturbingly) radioactive FiestaWare saucer that measures just over six inches. Measurement with a pancake probe(the specs are the same as a 44-9 Victoreen probe) I'm getting readings of over 71,000 counts per minute. I say this item is FiestaWare because it is consistent with other early. Unstamped fiesta-ware plates. This saucer is in great condition. While it is safe to handle, I don't exactly store them under my pillow or sit them on my lap for evening tea. That being said, ALARA is the way to live. These plates really are expensive to ship. And I don't profit from the shipping. They are shipped in sturdy boxes, in bubble wrap with newspaper to immobilize it while shipping. I am not a plate expert. So I have included detailed pictures. What I do ... moreknow is that early uranium glazed plates are ALWAYS, without exception, hotter(more radioactive) than the later plates. It is extremely rare to see a plate with such a high count rate, and I have sold a lot of plates! So. The ridge design and relatively high level of radiation seems to indicate an original saucer from the 1930s, when natural uranium was used in the really beautiful glaze rather than depleted uranium. Again, I am no expert. This is a great Geiger counter check source. Or the perfect specimen for a physics teacher, health physics tech instructors, while this item is safe to handle, it's hard to find a low level a/b/y emitter for paper and foil demonstrations. that is totally exempt from NRC regulations AND is safe to touch with bare hands(I wash mine after handling, regardless. This geiger counter has broken end clips. The metal just gave way when I tried to lock the cover back on. The clips are broken on both ends, but otherwise the counter is in excellent shape and works well. Includes headphones. Can't guarantee calibration because I don't know anything about that. This RO-2 is in decent working condition. The second pic shows compass on the side and the third. The compass is at the open window on the bottom. Here is an electronic dosimeter. It appears to be in working condition. I let it sit with the compass and an ore sample untill it collected 0.4 mR. I think you can see in photo. That is as far as tested. No idea how accurate or if thes can still be calibrated. But it seems simple enough that it may be possible. Anyway a neat device from not to many years ago. This is a used Victoreen Instrument Co. CDV-700 Model 6B Ser No. 118134 Batteries not included. Good working condition. Has been in storage for a while. There are some areas where the paint is scratched, but the photos show that pretty well. There are no dings or dents. This is approximately 13.25" long including handle and 2.75" Diameter Coax terminates to a PL-259 Connector. There is an on off switch on the bottom of the handle. The handle is made of brass and is cracked on the long on both sides. Seems like stress crack even though it is thick, as no dents or scratching on adjacent sides to indicate impact or clamping. It is basically a digital readout Geiger counter. But can count and display other types of pulsed signals. This unit has five Dekatron tubes as the readout; tubes are type GC-10B made in England by Baird Atomic, Inc. It powers up and all Dekatron tubes count correctly with a Geiger tube as input.
