Mid years instruments with serial# 46567 and up this is a 1 M.A. full scale meter older instruments require 50 U.A. meters. This is an later model 1 M.A. full scale meter. Can be used with many models. If you have an earlier instrument that requires a 50 U.A. meter it can be upgraded by changing the value of 2 resistors on the main board to then use a 1 M.A. meter. I do have instructions provided by Ludlum to make the changes in PDF format. Here is an ESP-2 survey meter. It is micro processor controlled. You can program in several probe types. With out the manual I got an HP-270 probe working to the point I know it is detecting radiation. I am also including an LEG-1 gamma scintillation probe with it. I know the LEG is working. But I did not try to set it up with this meter. The only bad part about this is that someone left batteries in the case at one point till they corroded. This corrosion did not penetrate the case and did not make the case unusable. It has been cleaned up and you can see it is operating. It will need a calibration to be accurate because i know the compass is not 21 mR/hr and the background is lower than 0.3 mR/hr. It comes also with an adapter for LEG-1 probe. This is a SE international geiger counter that has a BNC connector allowing you to use it with an external probe. The original factory setting is 500V +.20V. It is especially well suited to use with those surplus Russian pancake geiger counter tubes. The original internal GM tube has been removed since it was damaged. It would be better to put in a high range GM tube in it's place. Then you'll have a high range gamma dose meter with the external probe option of detecting contamination. The HV output is variable 400 to 800V sellectable by shorting out HV zener diodes. If you need a specific voltage, let me know. Here is an fantastic fiestaware lunch plate by Gladding McBean. Which explains the GMB stamp on the bottom. This was made with a glaze using natural, rather than depleted uranium, which is why it is so radioactive compared to the 1950s-1970s plates. This is a great Geiger counter check source, conversation piece, radioactive relic, and is perfect for teachers, collectors, radioactive boyscouts(kidding) etc. Depending on your equipment, calibration, and especially probe/counter type and circuitry, your count rates may differ. Here is a thorough description of what you see in the first two pictures: The counter: An Eberline PRM-6 pulse rate meter with fresh batteries, calibrated to a +/ 10% standard on all scales. NIST standard, using a traceable Cesium 137 source, decay compensation calculations ... moreapplied. No modifications to the meter. Voltage on the HF circuit, before any drop due to load, was 937 Volts. The probe: A Victoreen 489-1100 probe, which is equivalent to the famed 44-9 pancake probe. Tested and passed inspection, although I don't know the specific standard. This item will certainly be picked up on a working CDV-700 with a pickle probe. That's a gamma only tube with a beta window, so alpha particles(the majority of the reading on the plate surface) will not be picked up. Also, shipping these really is tremendously expensive. This model 12 is in very good condition. Has an adjustable threshold/discriminator. This meter has been modified to the point of having a 1/8 jack installed for head phone use and that the clicks have been set at one for 100 counts. This would be a great meter to use with a gamma scintillator probe as the definition for increasing count rates is easier to detect. Head phone use cuts out the speaker. This is a Ludlum model 2 geiger counter. It will blow those antique yellow CDV-700 geiger counters out of the water in versatility and ease of use. It features a user selectable HV output. It works well with both geiger tubes and scintillation probes(see my other listing for a few DIY probes) It uses 2x D cells. But runs fine on a 2 AA lithium batteries with adapters if lighter weight is desired. It runs for almost a moth of use on a single pair of AA energy lithium batteries. This is one from my personal stash of gizmos, selling because I use my neutronRAE as my primary go/no-go detector. Reworked Technical Associates HOT DOG side window Geiger Muller probe with rotating beta shield and Victoreen 6306 G.M. tube. Modified by removing the fixed attaching cable and mounting stud and installing a BNC fitting and hole plugs where the mounting stud was as well as the access hole. I had a friend that was nearly blind and let him use it because he couldn't see which side was pointing up or down but could feel the two different hole plug caps of which are two sizes I also dinged them in a bit for an even better feel. He passed away a while back and I was given it back by his family and I have so many others so it just sits around. The Bismuth coated copper screen also gives the thin aluminum tube more strength and greatly increases sensitivity to low energy gamma below 1 MEV. sensitivity of the LND steel thin wall tubes. Normal background on them is 20 CPM whereas this tube is 60 CPM a more efficient gamma detector. The 6306 tube can detect ALPHA radiation via Bremsstrahlung X-RAYS and not the particles themselves Bremsstrahlung X-RAYS are the week X-RAYS generated by the heavy small week particle breaking orbit and can be easily detected through things that would stop the ALPHA particle such as glass. Steel, lead, flesh, and food products provided you have a probe that can actually detect them. Detects BETA. GAMMA, Bremsstrahlung X-RAYS, and X-RAYS.
