This has an original Civil Defense Box which in itself is a collectible and conversation piece. The items are marked with the well known CD symbol. The Geiger or Radiation Counter dimensions are about 8 ¼ inches long and is about 4 ½ inches wide. This kit is in good physical condition as you can see with no rust or major wear. We dont suggest using it unless you get it calibrated. It uses 1"D" battery and it appears to work but we don't have a radioactive source to test it. It is a model IM-5015/TD and has had the radioactive source removed by the Canadian Armed Forces prior to it being sold as surplus. I haven't tested it but it looks very good. I have no way of calibrating it; the manual states that it is calibrated"by being placed in a gamma radiation field.such as radium or Cobalt 60. I seem to have misplaced mine. This is a small 1cm diameter lithium iodide scintillation crystal. This crystal is from a SAIC neutron detector. It was originally coupled to a small PMT. It responds to FAST neutrons very well. So it may be of interest to fusor builders. Even though it is designed for neutrons, it still detects gamma rays too, just turn up the detector gain. The only difference is the spike of light with a neutron capure event is far brighter than any gamma event. This allows you to discriminate the energy by lowering the detector gain so normal gamma background is negligible. All you need to make your own detector head is a PMT tube or large area PIN photodiode detector. I have the suitable PIN photodiode in another listing with a couple high gain amplifier boards. This is a board that has three highly sensitive radiation sensors on it. Two of them are low energy gamma or X-ray detectors. And one is a high energy gamma detector. It has a FET pre-amplifier and some other parts. This assembly is the main board from a high end pager style dosimeter/detector unit. If desired the sensors can be removed for use with other equipment. The LCD drive IC is bad. From my tests, these sensors seem to behave similar to standard PIN photodiodes, and can be treated as such using standard pulse amplifiers designed for light detectors. This makes building your own detector very easy compared to GM sensors! Also, they are a lot more sensitive despite their small size, especially to the lower energy gamma or x-ray bands. This is a lens assembly for a scintillation detector probe that used two APD detectors. The unit has two extreme short focal length lenses that APD's were mounted near. The lenses allowed the unit to utilize inexpensive small and fast APD detectors instead of large slow detectors. Inside it had a small rod of scintillator material with a helix of teflon flow tubing wrapped around it. It was used for monitoring ground water for Cesium 127 and other nuclear contamination. The lens assemblies are easily removed for use in other projects. And they collimate point source lights like fiber optics or laser diodes very well. The lenses are optimized for blue light. This speaker should fit multiple different units. Such as the Victoreen 493, and may be compatible with units manufactured by Ludlum Bicron Victoreen and Eberline. At auction is this vintage German Army"Cold War" Geiger Counter/Radiation Detection Kit. The set/kit was manufactured in Germany(circa 1963) by Frieseke& Hoepfner and is their Type FH40T. The nomenclature in German is: Verstahlungsmessgeraet 2. Typ FH40T. With the exception of 2 Nickel-Cadmium batteries, this kit is complete. Also included is a pamphlet containing parts lists and instructions-written in German. Photos 10, 11, and 12 are representative samples of what's contained in the pamphlet. The last calibration certificate(1981) is also included, along with what I think is the original"bill of sale" transferring this item from a Depot to a Kaserne in Germany. Photo 2 shows how everything is packed into the case. Photos 5 and 7 show the main operating parts, ... moreincluding an earpiece which is housed in the leather case shown in photo 6. Although all the parts(except the batteries) are present, I cannot and did not test the system. The case is wooden with a metal veneer. This is a small 1 inch diameter by 1/8 inch thick crystal of some sort of florescent yellow scintillation material. It glows quite brightly when zapped with UV lasers and x-rayed with my Inspector 200. And appears to be some sort of crystal material or glass. I checked it with a Geiger counter and it isn't uranium glass. I have lots of lasers and other unique stuff for sale this week.

This is a very nice photomultiplier tube that will make a nice scintillation detector for many common Ludlum geiger counters. It is a 76mm dia. Head-on type, Bialkali photocathode(Effective area: 70 mm dia. The maximum spectral response is 300 to 650 nm, peaking near 435nm, originally designed for NaI or plastic scintillator based gamma cameras. It needs 450 to 1550V; best at 750v to1100v to work. You can make a voltage divider to use it with most common geiger counters using several 10 meg ohm 1/4W resistors. The biasing HV caps that are also needed for the last 3 stages are already attached to the board. The board on it also has the tube electrode pin configuration clearly marked making these PMT tubes really easy to set up! This is a small 32x32x43 mm block of high quality scintillation material. It fits 1-1/2 inch face PMT tubes nicely. To make your probe with a PMT tube: This part should first be glued to the prepped PMT with a high quality silicone or epoxy glue. If using epoxy glue. The shiny side should face the PMT face. If using silicone glue the matte side should face the PMT. Then the block should be spray painted with two coats of brilliant white(titanium dioxide) paint first, and then one coat of flat black paint. Finally it should be wrapped in aluminum foil to the base of the PMT, and potted into piece of PVC pipe with a BNC connector for connection to your meter. The resistor string of the PMT should have 8-10meg ohms between dynode electrode stages. Use 3 10nF buffer capacitors on the last three ... moredynodes before the plate, and a high voltage 4.7nF capacitor between the cathode and last dynode stage. Isolate the plate from the last dynode by a 10meg resistor. Assembled this way it will make an extremely sensitive radiation detector probe that will rival most common commercially available units in sensitivity. This material is hard to find. This is a Geiger Muller tube for the cdv 700 Geiger counter. It has been used and has a small dent however I have tested it in an Anton model 5 and it operates properly.

Wow! Neato! and made by a Japanese company that names itself after a giant flying reptile of B Movie vintage. The Dekatrons are Rodan Okaya DK23's. It works just ducky seeing it counts radiation from that old WW2 B29 meter. Which by the way is not included. The probe is a garden variety alpha. Beta& gamma counting type and the input sensitivity and HV range allows the use of other type of probes, like Ludlum Scintillator probes and the input connector is an MHV. This is an early solid state(no tubes except the Dekatrons) is of discrete build. No IC's and it actually has a tunnel diode in it. The HV filter capacitors have been replaced since this thing is at least 40+ years old. A really nice collectable item and more so for those who like blinking neon lights. This is a 7/8 inch diameter special alpha particle sensitive scintillation detector assembly used for a radon gas flow counter. It is unique in that it only responds to alpha and beta particle radiation. It is immune to gamma rays. This allows it to scan for airborne contamination or radioactive gases like tritium and radon. It could be coupled to my scintillation probe kit and built into a chamber with a small air pump to measure radon gas or other airborne radioactive contamination. This item is so sensitive that the flashes of light it emits from alpha particles can actually be seen by your own eyes with a simple magnifier when excited with the americium from a smoke detector!
